Material
This saddle is made from high density Ox bone and is for use on steel strung acoustic guitars.

Dimensions
This item is tailored to your required dimensions. The saddle can be upto 3.50mm wide, 9.5mm high and 79mm long. Larger sizes are accomodated in our other adverts. The design of the overall shape, from an existing saddle or from dimensions, is included.

Compensation
It is shaped to provide compensation - this makes the strings sound closer to the desired pitch at the '+ frets by altering the contact point at the saddle for the individual strings. Notes sounded when fretted may not be ideal pitch due to a variety of effects such as the strings stretching when pressed down. Correcting for these effects gives a better sounding harmonies between notes because the intervals are closer to the ideal. A chromatic tuner allows the effects to be measured.

Shaping the Saddle
Shaping of the component may be necessary to get it to fit tightly into the bridge slot and to fine tune the compensation. The height may also require adjustment to achieve the desired string the fretboard distance. The material is easily worked with fine grit abrasive paper and finally polished with wire wool and/or scotch brite
Quality Control in the Manufacture
These items are hand made by myself in a workshop set up for the production of guitar parts and tooling. I use high precision measurement and a variety of shaping techniques commonly used in high precision engineering. I have a long history of making guitar parts encompassing design from first principles, performance analysis, acoustic analysis and manufacture quality control. I play guitar where - over many years - I have learnt to appreciate and understand the finer points of guitar parts design, performance and set-up from a players point of view.
